Healthy hair all summer long

HURRAY! It’s finally summer! Let’s all get in our summer frocks and head to the beach!

EXCEPT WAIT.

You’ve just had your hair freshly cut and coloured.

And your hairdresser gave you a treatment so it’s all silky and shiny and healthy and perfect and OMG what happens when the sun and salt water hit it?

Dehydration and damage are an unfortunate and unwelcome impact that summer’s elements can indeed have on your locks.

So if you take pride in keeping your hair healthy, listen up, because we’ve got the ultimate guide to making sure your hair stays in ship shape while the heat kicks into gear.

WEAR A HAT

It goes without saying that in the Aussie sun, we need to protect our hair and skin from every angle. The best armour: A hat.

DON’T WASH YOUR HAIR AS OFTEN

Unless you’re swimming every day and you need to get the salt and/or chlorine out quick smart, washing your hair too often can strip your hair of its natural oils, which can leave your hair defenceless and dry. So keep washing to once a week, if you can.

KEEP HEAT TO A MINIMUM

Heat, as we all know, can be your hair’s worst enemy. So while the weather is heating up, keep your heat appliance use to a minimum - that is, straighteners, curling tongs, etc.

THERMAL PROTECTION

Spritz your hair daily with a thermal or humidity protection spray, especially if you know you’re going to be outside a fair bit on any particular day.
We have a range of thermal protection products for your purchasing pleasure…

Here are a few of our favs.

USE REGULAR TREATMENTS

Salon quality hair... ALL summer long? Wrap your hands around the K18 hair mask for repair on a molecular level.

Another option to keep hair hydrated is to use a weekly hair mask. A bit like this here Bondi Boost Miracle Hair Mask...

CHLORINE PROTECTION

We have a whole article about what to do for hair in the face of the dreaded green chlorine monster if you’re heading to the pool.
